Not much time for blogging these days; too much relaxing and eating and relaxing ... oh, did I say that already? Tonight at our house saw 12 friends laughing and enjoying an amazing turkey dinner. The bird was something like 17lbs, and the legs were more haunches than anything else - the ones you see above took up 50% of Chelsie and Sandra's plates. Afterwards, Pole Position and Gallaga were the stars of our new video game console. What a bunch of geeks! ;)

Whelp, bedtime now, and no alarm set for tomorrow - nice!

Dateline Victoria: It's Tuesday and I am looking forward to the upcoming looooong weekend - 10 whole days in a row! Not that I'm not enjoying work - it's still going great. It's just that I'm looking forward to a full week of relaxation, hanging out with friends, and party-izing. Hopefully doing some organizational meetings for some upcoming side projects. All in all, exitement and happiness flow through me, though not for the same reasons as most others. For me, it's just a good time to be alive! Yeah! Maybe I'll even rest enough to get past this hint of a cold which has been shadowing me these last few weeks.

The heavy breaks are kicking in on Davin's mixed set which is currently pounding through my head (from headphones so as not to disturb the others, or cause an afternoon rave in the office), and the throbbing bass lines remind me that I have a bunch of work to pump through today. Whomp, whomp, whomp, it's off to work I go.

Tonight I think I should offload the pictures accumulating on my camera; my blog seems a little empty.

They're playing NES at my office right now. Damn, I do love this place! After the standard Friday BBQ, we all came back in to do the afternoon's work, but have been sidetracked ever so slightly by my find of a video clip of the famous SNL "Cowbell" sketch (we've been going on about it for the last couple of days), and now there're some folks playing NES in the boardroom. Soon, the Nerf darts will start flying again.

Hardcore hardware techie - that's me! Since starting at Mercurial, I've been working less on programming and more with setting up and configuring custom hardware. It seems kinda funny to me, after years of work on web sites and applications to be playing with the other end of the spectrum. For 2 weeks now, my desk has been covered in multitudes of coloured wires connecting bits and pieces of crazy electronics. There's nothing more 'tech-looking' than piles of circuit boards and micro-chips and gobs and gobs of cabling! Do I look pro? Yes! Do I feel it? Well let's just say it's been an odd "fish out of water" kind of experience, but today I had my first major success - I got the device talking to the Internet! Huge, monster success (seriously)!

Anyways, 'nuff of that, on to other topics. Has anyone else been out walking at night this past while? What's the deal with it being so dead? Every time I've gone for a walk in the last few weeks, there's been barely another soul out - even in cars. Is the early darkness driving the populace to sleep early? Or are folks merely staying indoors more, out of the rain and cold? Or is there actually a conspiracy between the Rand Corporation, in conjunction with the Saucer People, under the supervision of the Reverse Vampires* to force people to go to bed early in a fiendish plot to eliminate the meal of dinner?

Ramblings of a Tuesday morning... I'm feelin' fine!

My name on MSN today was "Wednesday *blink*", and it was so appropriate. Much achieved, however: work-work, server movements, contract work, dinner, more work, previously unseen South Park, walk, and now it's off to bed. I am so looking forward to being contract free and able to nap quietly and uncomfortably on the couch between when I get home from work and bedtime.
