Another grey morning dawns. I sit quietly half-naked alone in the office. The office manager, a small balding ferret, sleeps silently in her cage. Sheena has left for Seattle and her four-day shopping spree already, but has thoughtfully left me morning coffee to reheat. It's a private blend of my own, mixed carefully in the Thrifty Foods coffee aisle from mostly darks, but with hints of cinnamon, vanilla, and irish creme. It smelled good in the bag, but what came out of the bodum this morning (and after a brief stint in the microwave) was not as delicious as I had hoped. Whether it was a fault in my mix (very possible since it was only my second time ever being sent to the coffee aisle, and first where I exercised my own creativity), or just the fact that the coffee had been stewing in its own grounds for 4 hours or so, I do not know. However, with a little dollop of sugar and the teeniest drop of milk, things are looking up. ...Although I think Sheena's right - cream would have been better.
Holy cow, I think I've just written a coffeeblog (somewhat) in the manner of Jim - I am SO sorry! ;)
The picture above is of my view from the office ... and accidentally overexposed due to my inattention to the camera's setting as I picked it up. The shot just below is a more realistic depiction of what my eyes perceive - or rather what my brain interprets my eyes perceive.

Well, with that behind me, and an actual blog entry posting on the immediate horizon, things might actually go well today. There's again the pile of work needing all (and more) of my attention, but I'm sorry, I just refuse to work more than 8 hours a day right now (well, maybe 10 at the outside - thanks a bunch for calling me at 5pm yesterday, IVL!). But definitely not 16! So sucks to Piggywiggy.
OMG! Okay, I have to share this! I just Googled the last sentence in the above paragraph to see where it came from. I knew it was a quote, but I couldn't remember from where. Google reminds me that it's from Asterix - though the find on Google is fan fiction and not the quote from the actual Goscinny & Uderzo story. That's the second time Asterix has shown up in my life in so many weeks. Oh, how I used to LOVE my Asterix comics!
A snuffle from behind me and the sound of the ball-bearing in the water dispenser inform me that the little office manager is now awake (no doubt disturbed from peaceful slumber by the keyboard that Sheena can apparently hear even from the bedroom). I definitely need to stop this and start looking busy!
PS- I quite like the coffee now!
